Taxi to Herceg Novi: from the airports via the ferry, from Budva and Kotor (2026)
In short
Herceg Novi is the town at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor by the Croatian border, the “town of a thousand steps”. A taxi from Tivat Airport is €30–40 via the Kamenari ferry (25 km, 40–50 minutes with the ferry) or 45 km around the bay; from Budva 47 km and €60–80; from Kotor €25–35; from Dubrovnik Airport 40 km and €60–90 across the border. Taxis stop at Nikola Đurković square, the bus station and the Pet Danica seafront — cars do not enter the stepped Old Town. A request through Budva Taxi App shows the tariff estimate, the driver confirms the price, and you pay in cash with no commission.

Where it is and where taxis stop
Herceg Novi climbs a steep slope: the highway and bus station at the top, the Old Town and seafront at the bottom, stairs in between. Taxis drop you at the bus station (highway), on Nikola Đurković square by the clock tower (upper entrance to the Old Town) or down on the Pet Danica seafront by the Škver harbour. Accommodation inside the Old Town is reached on foot, by stairs only.
Igalo — the spa suburb 3 km west with the Simo Milošević institute; taxi €4–6, cars reach the hotels without restriction.
From Tivat Airport: ferry or the long way round
The short way is the Kamenari–Lepetane ferry: 10 km from the airport to the ferry, 5 minutes on board (every 10–15 minutes, around the clock in summer, about €5 per car — ask whether it is in the price), then 15 km to Herceg Novi. In total 25 km, 40–50 minutes, €30–40 at the terminal. The long way round the bay via Kotor and Perast is 45 km, 60–70 minutes, €40–50, but without the ferry queue, which on August afternoons can run to 30–40 minutes.
From Podgorica Airport — 110 km via Budva and the ferry, 2–2.5 hours, €100–140.
From Dubrovnik Airport and Croatia
Dubrovnik Airport (Čilipi) — 40 km, Debeli Brijeg border: 60–90 minutes depending on the queue (up to 2 hours on summer Saturdays). €60–90 per car, but only taxis and transfers with an international licence may cross the border — a request through the Budva app does not cover this route; book a transfer, or take a Croatian taxi to the border and a Montenegrin one after it.
From Budva, Kotor and around the bay
Budva — 47 km via Tivat and the ferry, 60–80 minutes, €60–80; Blue Line bus from Budva bus station via Kotor €6–8, 1.5–2 hours. Kotor — 25 km along the bay, 30–40 minutes, €25–35; bus €3–4. Perast — 15 km, €15–20. Porto Montenegro — 30 km via the ferry, €35–45.
